Brand and model: SCIEX CESI 8000 Plus System & Waters QTOF G2-XS2.
CESI 8000 Plus system functions and applications:- This instrument is connected in series with QTOF and combines the advantages of high separation efficiency of capillary electrophoresis with the high resolution and sensitivity of high-resolution mass spectrometry to become a high-performance analysis platform.
- It can also be used as an independent capillary electrophoresis instrument with UV and visible light detectors for detection.
- Provides an analysis platform for trace amounts of precious samples. The required injection volume can be as low as 6uL.
- The tandem mass spectrometer is equipped with the original unique OptiMS cartridge, which uses a single continuous capillary as the separation channel and has no dead body.

Provide analysis services including (mainly analysis by tandem mass spectrometer; CE alone is discussed separately)- Quantitative experiment - Quantitative analysis of known small organic molecules (metabolites) in the sample compared with standards.
- Qualitative experiment- Confirm the mass and fragmentation mode of different small molecules (metabolites) in the sample.

Reservation regulations**If you need a tandem mass spectrometer (QTOF), please make an appointment at QTOF**
- Please make a reservation through the "Instrument Reservation System" at the Instrumentation Resource Center prior to use. The individual booking must be the one using the instrument.
- Accurately log the start and end times in the paper record book after use. The start time should match what was registered in the system, while the end time should reflect the actual finish time, including system recovery and cleanup.
- You may reserve operating time for up to 6 sessions per person per week, not exceeding 48 hours in total. Should you require additional analysis time, you may extend your session if it does not interfere with other bookings.
- All reservations or cancellations must be completed in the reservation system before 5:00 PM the day before the intended use. Same-day bookings or cancellations will not be accepted.
- Normal operating hours for self-service users are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. Fridays are reserved for maintenance, adjustments, and new project development by center staff; self-service bookings are not permitted. Contact the instrument administrator for exceptions.
- To use the instrument overnight or on holidays, you must have utilized it at least 6 times during weekdays and received approval from the administrator. Make sure to contact the administrator for holiday reservations.
- For overnight usage, ensure that initial settings, instrument adjustments, and analysis operations are completed before 5:00 PM on the same day.

Sample Preparations- For self-operation and technician operation service, the user should prepare all necessary consumables such as analytical solvents, columns, capillaries, and sample bottles.
- Before applying the sample to the machine, make sure to perform purification steps such as high-speed centrifugation, protein removal, and filtration to prevent any damage to the mass spectrometer.

Experimental data- Please make sure that the sample is purified properly before injecting it into the machine to prevent any damage to the mass spectrometer.
- The experimental data is temporarily stored in the mass spectrometer's computer for a period of 3 months, after which it will be automatically deleted. Please note that the center will not be held responsible for any data loss caused by computer failure during this period.
- Please prepare a formatted hard drive in advance to access the analysis data. Do not insert an unformatted hard drive into the instrument or computer, as any damage caused will be your responsibility to repair.
If the mass spectrometer is damaged due to poor sample preparation or improper operation, it will be handled in accordance with the "National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University Instrumentation Resource Center Yangming Campus Instrument Open Use Management Regulations."

[Certification Process]
- First, watch the instructional video on the instrument.
- Attend the hands-on training course held by the center every semester.
- Pass the instrument operation certification exam (can re-test once)
- If you do not pass the exam two times, you must attend the hands-on training course again to be qualified for a re-test.
- Operate the device thrice under the administrator's supervision to gain the weekday license (Mon-Thurs 8:00 am - 5:00 pm).
- Users must have completed six sessions on weekdays, and the administrator will authorize access to the system.
- Overnight Reservation Rule: Users must complete the initial setup and adjustment before 5 pm on the same day and confirm the machine settings and system running before leaving overnight.
- Holiday Reservation Rule: Users must contact the administrator before reservation.
- Each laboratory can have a maximum of two eligible personnel apply for certification. If there are more than two users, a request should be submitted to the administrator to increase the quota.
- If a certified user has not used the facilities for over three months, they must reapply to the administrator for additional certification.
- Any attempt to make a reservation without proper certification or unauthorized use of another user's account will suspend user privileges for the entire lab for one month.
After the management unit issues a receipt certificate and calculates the price, go to the school cashier's office to pay and present the receipt to facilitate subsequent analysis services.

- Technician operation charges are calculated based on the number of samples. All machine models and analysis modes are charged at a unified price. Each sample is analyzed in triplicate. The sample loading time is arranged orderly according to the sample submission.
- Self-operation is calculated in hours. If it is less than one hour, it will be billed in one hour; the billing time includes the time for system preparation before use, instrument adjustment, sample analysis, washing between samples, and cleaning the system after analysis.

- To promote the use of mass spectrometers, rewards will be given if the amount of services related to mass spectrometer facilities reaches a certain threshold.
- The usage amount of the current year will be calculated in December every year and cannot be accumulated across years; the feedback will be used to offset the usage fee.
- The feedback can only be used to offset the service fees provided by the mass spectrometer facility. There is no limit on the period of use. However, it cannot be transferred, discounted in cash, or used to other units.
Payment process instructions
- Pay at the counter: Please take this notice to the cashier team on the first floor of the Yangming Campus Administration Building or the Joint Service Office on the first floor of the Traditional Medicine Building A to pay.
- Plan transfer: requisition system/project funds (Please select payee details: internal transfer); and click here to download the "On-campus unit fund transfer Application Form (Common Instrument Usage Fee)" and send it to the Instrumentation Resource Center by official document; for detailed instructions, please see [on-campus fund transfer instruction].
- Remittance: Due to school administrative work, please call the center on the day of remittance and send the remittance details (last five digits of the remittance account, amount, etc.) via email back to the center's mailbox. We will issue a receipt, and users can pick it up in person at the center or provide the delivery address.
