The principle is to use the sublimation process. Freeze drying is a process whereby water or other solvent is removed from frozen material by converting the frozen water directly into vapor without the intermediate formation of liquid water. When the sample is freeze-dried, the size, shape, and composition are unchanged, and the cell nutrients and activity in the original sample can also be retained.
The Continuous Series of Process:
- Pre-freezing: freeze to below the freezing point
- Primary drying (sublimation reaction): maintain a low-pressure vacuum condition
- Secondary drying (heat drying): warm to remove residual moisture

It can be used for long-term storage of microbial cultures, enzymes, blood, specimens, medicines, and space food. Solid products can also be chemically analyzed because they are more stable than liquids.

- The inner slot* requires a reservation on the log book and is available with a scheduled on/off time.
- Each time the inner slot is reserved, the maximum capacity is 1/2 of the tank volume. Please use the outer slots if the capacity is less than 1/4, and the scheduled switch time must be matched.
Every Monday and Thursday, 8:30 am (OFF) - 15:30 pm (ON)

- If no one is using it, users can switch it on and off by themselves. If you are unfamiliar with the switching process, contact the central office.
【Note】
- Freeze-dry bottles can be brought by yourself or borrowed from the center in advance.
- Make sure that the freeze-dry bottle you prepare can be tightly sealed with the valve of the freeze-dryer and that there is no air leakage.
- The freeze-dry bottle is expensive, please use it carefully. You must compensate for a new freeze-dried bottle (brand only VirTis or Labconco) if damaged.
- It is strictly forbidden to use【Isotope】and organic solvents.
